Carl Rubly

I enjoy piano because I have a deep connection to it. Piano helps me to fantasize and imagine things. I was always drawn to this wonderful instrument because of the magical sounds it produced. These sounds affect me deeply: sometimes they make me want to fly, sometimes they make me feel sad, and sometimes I just want to dance and sing when I hear piano. Piano sounds have different colors, shapes, and speeds. They move in amazing ways. These sounds are not only audible, but we can see them with our minds and feel them with our hearts. I love sharing music with people around me. When I play piano, I hope that everyone would experience the feelings that music creates inside me.

Carl Rubly lives in Houston, Texas. He is a student of John Weems and Nancy Weems. Since the beginning of his piano journey at the age of four, Carl has earned numerous accolades and has performed in prestigious venues. Most recently, Carl has won the 2025 Baylor/Waco Piano Competition and the 2025 Blinn College Piano Competition in the 7 & 8 Grade category, following his victory in the same competition’s 5 & 6 Grade category in 2023.
